Before you spray – Read! 

If you are considering pressure washing your property as a DIY job, we wanted to give you a few pointers to avoid damage and costly mistakes we have seen happen.

Electric Meter / Panel – While they are ok in a rainstorm, the pressure from a pressure washer can damage components are end up with costly repairs.

Asphalt Shingles – if you have this type of roof cover never pressure wash it.  They will break apart and cause leaks and cost you a potential ton of repair money.

Air Conditioning Units – They are not meant to be power washed. You may destroy the electronics.  To clean the unit use a vacuum and gentle water flow.

Vehicles – You may accidentally chip the paint or even dent the surface.

Old Brick/Mortar – When hit with a heavy stream of water you may just accidentally crumble your wall. Brick requires specialized cleaning methods.

Wood and Aluminum Siding – While it’s very possible to wash both types of home siding, if done incorrectly you risk getting water up under the roof and in the walls. This leaves you open to mold growth, wet insulation, and even wet electrical wiring.

Paint That Might Contain Lead – Never blast lead paint – It can send particles into the air you could breathe in. Lead poisoning can be deadly.

Painted Surfaces and Stained Wood – Pressure washing can remove paint and even stain deposit rather than clean it. So, it’s a big don’t.

Windows – Glass is…….. Well, Glass. While there is a possibility you can clean the surface there is a high chance of breakage. Stick to Windex and some elbow grease.

Gutters – This one surprises many. While it may seem like a quick fix, it’s never a good idea to clean out your gutters with a pressure washer. Remove debris by hand and use a regular garden hose.
